youtube ruined my life

Diré que dejé de lado la saga de libros de "the fifth wave" porque no me enganché lo suficiente, pero la realidad es otra. Sucumbí ante la tentación de refreshear la página de mis suscripciones en youtube para encontrarme con lo que llamo "eye candy" -no la clase de weheartit-. Si algo productivo puedo rescatar de este verano, es que hice listas y listas y listas. Le di uso a mi más que souvenir de Máncora, una libreta pequeña y ESENCIAL de mi vida, donde anoto lo que debo hacer cada semana. No por día, porque quién sabe qué y qué feo planear todo. Listas de países, ciudades de esos países y lugares en las ciudades de esos países. Lista de compras (anuales porque cheap). Listas de ingredientes que debo comprar para hacer (diy) una crema de noche.  Listas de aesthetic/life-inspiration y para segmentar, por parte de canales en youtube.

Youtube mejora mi vida.

I'll say that I stopped reading "the fifth wave" saga because I didn't get too much into the story, but that's not a projection of the truth. I just kept on refreshing the subscription page on youtube to find what I like to call "eye candy" - not the kind you find on weheartit, though-. If I had to name something productive I did over the summer was creating lists. I got to use my ohsoemotional souvenir I bought in Mancora last holidays, a little agenda (?) and definitely a life essential, where I like to write what I need to do over the week. Not by days, because who knows what and I dont wanna be that kinda person ukno. Lists of countries, cities in those countries, places to visit in the cities of those countries. Shopping lists (annual bc cheap). Lists of ingredients I need to DIY a nightcream. Lists of aesthetic/life-inspiration, and to be clear, youtube channels.

Youtube makes my life better. 

1. Weston James Palmer

No existe hasta el día de hoy una persona que utilice el rose quartz y serenity como lo hace WJP. 

No existe un vlogger más único que él. Donde está youtube entregándole una placa de "most visually pleasant videomaker" (?)

Después de la fase de gurus y de hauls, viene la fase de auto-superación, tutoriales espirituales, tercer ojo, pineal gland y WHATNOT de las cosas shamánicas que vemos a diario en tumblr o ilustradas en camisetas/perchas de bershka...pero con explicación.

3. Belle Leigh

No sé que hace Alessandro Michelle no contratando a Belle Leigh para que le dé un par de ideas de short-films. La influencia Grace Coddington-era es evidente. Qué belleza.

4. DamonAndJo

Sé que es posible viajar de A a B (europa) con sólo $8 gracias a D&Jo. Además de enseñar su life-mantra de no aferrarse a lo material porque eso es lo que te priva de explorar el mundo, sus aesthetic snaps en NYC y entre todo uno o dos snaps en idiomas que no entiendo...muestran su autenticidad y su experiencia en cuanto a viajes. No veo el día en el que lleguen de Huaquillas a San Gabriel (jalando dedo).

I know now that it is possible to go from point A to B (europe) with only $8, thanks to D&Jo. Besides preaching mantras about materiality and how holding on to it stops you from exploring the world, aesthetics snaps from NYC and one or two snaps in languages I don't understand inbetween ... they vlog about their authentic experiences in travelling the world. Can't see the day where they actually get from Huaquillas up to San Gabriel by asking for rides (autostop).

5. Josh Sobo

Antes de saber que existían vloggers como Josh Sobo, había perdido casi del todo la esperanza de conocer un youtuber que relacione viajes, aesthetic, fotografia y musica; all in one. 

Nadie usa bandanas en el cuello como Josh Sobo.

Tal vez sea absurdo justificar la procrastinación con el hecho de que este mes, se dio el fenómeno de "la cuadratura mutable". De todas maneras, es pertinente agradecerle a Mia Astral por no dejar que esta inhabitual alineación juegue con mi mente (y demonios...los cuales salieron a la luz, durante y después del mercurio retrógrado).

Algún día de la semana anterior, miércoles o jueves, sin más nada que hacer decidí salir a eso de las 4pm a tomar fotos con el propósito de encontrar nuevas puertas. Puertas alhajas. Hay un montón que merecen tener su espacio en este blog.

Aún los superstars no pierden la gracia, lo siento Leandra Medine, son una necesidad. El top de "bebe" estuvo mucho tiempo refundido y olvidado en algún spot de algún cajón. La suede jacket es un esencial que no es invisible a los ojos. Y el destacado de todo el post...el cinturón. Soy fiel creyente de que los cinturones hacen el outfit, el día, la vida. Bueno, feliz inicio de solsticio y luna llena, ya casi es the cusp of magic.

Perhaps it is absurd to justify the endless procrastination with the fact that this month, the phenomenon of the "mutable squaring". Anyways, its safe to thank Mia Astral for she's the reason why this unusual alignment didn't mess up my head, (or demons, which were brought to light during and after mercury retrograde)..greatly. 

Someday last week, Wednesday or Thursday, because I didn't have much to do, I decided to hit the streets with the sole purpose of finding new doors. There are so many that deserve to have a spot on this blog. 

The superstars to me, havent lost its grace quite yet, sorry Leandra Medine, they're still a must. The "bebe" top was way too much time left behind in some drawer. The suede jacket is an essential, not invisible to les yeux. And the highlight of the post..the belt. I'm a firm believer that belts make the outfit, the day, even life. 

Well, happy summer solstice and full moon, the cusp of magic is almost here.

Es miercoles 4, quinto día desde que Views de Drake fue lanzado y más de una semana desde que Beyoncé trajo al mundo a Lemonade. El verídico #blessed. Por eso, después de meses y meses de ausencia, TFB regresa con este outfit de un día desconocido de abril, el cual aparentemente era perfecto para usar creepers (como todos los días de la semana). Dejando a un lado la narrativa en 3ra persona...decidí ponerme un top sin mangas, previamente rescatado de una caja olvidada, un mom jean y un cinturón que fácilmente se podría mezclar con la portada del álbum de Alvvays.

It's wednesay, fifth day since Views by Drake was released and over a week since Beyoncé gave birth to Lemonade. We have been #blessed. After months of being absent, TFB makes its comeback with this outfit of an unknown day of april, which apparently was perfect for wearing creepers (isnt everyday?). ok, leaving aside the narration in 3rd person, I decided to wear a sleveless white top, which was previously rescued from a box; some mom jeans and a vintage belt which could easily be part of the cover of an Alvvays album.

Terrence

Son las 0:14 y los lunes no son tan malos. Con la canción más reciente de Lana del Rey, "Terrence Loves You" - la cual me atrevo a decir que es una de mis favoritas ahora- viene un sentimiento nostálgico medio-Morrisey que solo puede significar que el verano ya casi se acaba. Estos últimos tres meses parecían como una eternidad pero al menos logré obtener suficiente material fotográfico en mi 35mm kodak para llenar una "inspiration board". (He pasado suficientes horas en pinterest como para confiar que cualquier DIY me saldrá increíble). En fin, tres piezas de este outfit son vintage, los mom jeans son una de las mejores adquisiciones recientes y bueno...superstars.

It's 0:14 and Mondays aren't so bad. With the recently released song by Lana del Rey, "Terrence Loves You"- which I dare to say that is one of my absolute favorites by the artist- comes a very mellow (almost Morrisey-like) feeling that could only mean that summer is over. These past three months of summer migh have seemed like an eternity but at least I got enough footage on my 35mm kodak to cover up my soon-to-be inspiration board. (I've spent way too many hours on pinterest, enough to actually make myself believe that I'm capable of doing any DIY project).

Últimamente mi lista de deseos ha ido creciendo inhumanamente (?). Y es que esta lista que creé en Polyvore se asemeja bastante a todo lo que compraría sólo y únicamente si canjeara múltiples gift cards o cupones (o la lotería). En estas vacaciones se me ha dado por crear decenas de listas de deseos: maquillaje, cosméticos, zapatos, ropa, actividades, sueños, películas, series y hasta de mis instagrammers favoritos.  En fin, trataré de compartir varias listas lo que queda de este mes.

Lately, my wishlist has been growing in a very inhuman way. Feeling Violet

It wasn't until a few days ago that I realised that 2k14 is almost over, and as cliché as it sounds, time really flies by...with College finals, Christmas and New Years coming up, the excitement is just too much. As I write this, I'm getting that melancholic yet comforting feeling of December, which totally reminds me of the classic "Blue" by Bill Mack. However, I found time this week to shoot a little something. 

The blouse I'm wearing is by DearOne (lovely local shop). A blouse that goes by the name of Pure White Print - how pretty the name is though - in shades of violet, hence the name of my look. I'm trying to find the coolest words to describe the awesomeness of this blouse...the feel to it, the print, the lightness of it, the colors...it's safe to say that it was kind of love at first sight.

I paired this with some black high waisted jeans, my favourite black ankle boots and some lovely quasi-rounded shades.

Kimonos: DO'S & DONT'S

Desde que Emilio Pucci introdujo a los “kimonos” (versión cardigan) en su colección S/S 2013, la misma que fue inspirada en la cultura oriental; esta prenda se volvió una tendencia no solo para ocasiones especiales sino para un día fresco donde todo lo que necesitas es algo ligero y a la vez chic. Si hablamos de maneras de usar kimonos…existen varias como: el intento de Italian-Vogue-Chic-Girl hasta la Coachella (tumblr-style) girl; pero para alcanzar cualquiera de estas dos formas, o todo lo que conlleva cada una, hay que seguir una serie de do’s and dont’s.

Do’s •

 Los kimonos dan especial apertura para los entusiastas del boho chic, uno de mis all-time favorites. El look de la bloggera Nora Aradi es perfecto para describir un outfit worthy de un festival de música, el fedora es un accesorio que, en mi opinión, es casi un must para usar con los kimonos.

 

Muchas le temen a tanta soltura en una prenda, como si les fuese a añadir una talla de más…bueno, un cinturón sin muchas extravagancias ¿por qué no? Es ahí cuando se agrega más accesorios como un bolso de cuero haciendo de este outfit uno quasi-italian vogue.

Dont’s • 

Cuando pienso en kimonos pienso en simplicity, y es que la misma noción del “overthinking” se aplica el rato de escoger un outfit con qué usar un kimono. Si el print de esta prenda es floral, por ejemplo, no es de lo más recomendable usar una blusa con otro print o encaje muy excesivo. Less (really) is more. Marta M, en su look Colourful Kimono nos demuestra cómo un kimono puede transformar un outfit.

El objetivo de un kimono es moldear un outfit. Es decir que lo que se use por debajo, ya sea una blusa+shorts o un vestido, NO tiene que ser ocultado.   En la nueva colección de Dear One, Bright Lights Big Eyes, encontramos un kimono (kimo-yes) que podría hacer juego con un sinnúmero de prendas, desde shorts o pantalones hasta vestidos. tranquilamente podría ser protagonista)

Do's  

• Kimonos are somwhat a must for the boho chic enthusiasts, one of my all-time favorites. The look of the blogger Nora Aradi is perfect to describe an outfit worthy of a music festival, the fedora is an accessory that, in my opinion, is almost a must to pair with kimonos. 

• Many are afraid of such ease in this garment, as if it were to add a size more ... well, a belt without much extravagance why not? Making it the perfect occassion to wear more accessories like a leather handbag, appearing a quasi-italian vogue persona. 

Dont's 

• When I think about kimonos, the whole concept of simplicity comes to my mind; the same notion of "overthinking" washes me (most of the times) when it comes to picking an outfit to pair with a kimono. If the print on this garment is floral, for example, is not the most advisable to use another print blouse with lace or a too excessive pattern. Less (really) is more. Marta M, the blogger, shows us how a colourful kimono can transform an outfit. She nailed it!

• The aim of the kimono is to mold an outfit. That is why the piece of clothing underneath the kimono is important! They do not have to be hidden. In the new collection of Dear One, Bright Lights Big Eyes, there's a kimono (Kimono-yes) that could match countless garments, from pants to shorts or dresses. (Next: a look (above)at which, Kimono Rose, could be, without any doubt, the protagonist)

Generation Y

Still can't get over the Emmy's last night (round of applause for Queen Jessica Lange and the whole AHS and OITNB cast), basically that's the reason why I took one of  Madison Montgomery's quote from Coven: "I am a millennial. Generation Y. Born between the birth of AIDS and 9/11, give or take. They call us the Global Generation". One moment of silence. I created this outfit by putting this lovely top from DearOne, some high waisted pants from Bershka and black creepers. I'm in some deep love with this top since it has this lovely ethnical print but at the same time is very lightweight making it perfect for summer (even though its ending already).

Todavía no supero la noche de los Emmy Awards (ronda de aplausos para la reina Jessica Lange y el resto del cast de American Horror Story y OITNB), bàsicamente elegí titular a este look así por una frase de Madison Montgomery en Coven: "I am a millennial. Decidí ponerme un crop top de DearOne (se llama Tiempo de Bolero, heart eyes emoji), jeans de talle alto y creepers. Lo mejor de este crop top, aparte de su hermoso ethnical print, es que es super liviana, haciendo de este outfit perfecto para el verano (al menos en Quito). Disfruten.

How To: Crop Tops (Dear One)

Los crop tops han recorrido una larga trayectoria desde la época Spice Girls (90′s), ahora, ya no ese emblemático estilo colegial, más bien uno sofisticado y cómodo. Siendo una tendencia temida por muchos, Balenciaga al igual que Michael Kors se aferran a este estilo vanguardista dejando al descubierto tan solo una pequeña porción de la sección media.

Utilizando pantalones/shorts/faldas de talle alto se lograría esa combinación perfecta a lo 90′s, sin embargo, para añadir un toque más moderno, una maxi skirt no sería mala idea.

Hay crop tops para todas (algo que Cher de Clueless diría), unos que esconden un poco más pero aún así añaden ese ladylike appeal. En DearOne hay crop tops para escoger.

Hola! Aquí volviendo a esto de postear looks (o más bien despegándome de mis "lazy days").

Últimamente un aire repentino de motivación me ha llegado, justamente por todo lo que alejarse del colegio y/o graduarse del mismo significa: fresh new air. 

Es por eso que he decidido empezar ésta serie de looks de "verano", la cual irá de la mano con mi summer playlist '14, con este look al que he llamado Just A Hideaway (obviamente extraído de la cancion de Kiesza).

Hello! So, here I am with another comeback (yet again!), trying to stay away from the lazy-days. A sudden breeze of motivation has come to me because of the fact that school is over, for good...graduation is coming, therefore I can finally have some fresh new air. That's why Ive decided to start these series of summer looks, which will go hand-in-hand with my summer playlist, with this look that I like to call Just A Hideaway (from the song by Kiesza).
