Hoy, día dieciocho del mes segundo, compré "7 habits of highly effective people" y "Peak", ¿qué significa esto en mi vida? This is me, intentando ser lo más consistente posible con TFB y mi pro-career, debe ser eso. Hasta estoy tratando de tener un nuevo anxiety-coping-method para dejar de engullirme las uñas. Ojalá. Y ojalá SZA y Daniel Caesar hubieran ganado un grammy este año, creo que así estaría un poco más contenta con el cosmos, en general.
En una side-note, nunca pensé ponerme pantalones blancos - por mi propia voluntad - hasta que vi estos maravillosos 70's-ish con bolsillos largos en la parte de atrás. No podía no tenerlos. Más o menos como los A1 de Nike (reimagined). Esta sección del blog se debería llamar "reasons why i'm broke".

Cuando hacía los posts sobre mis viajes, mientras escribía el de Amsterdam, y ya iba por casi 500 palabras, por alguna razón se borró todo. Todo lo que es sentirse como ese escritor de la generación decapitada al que se pierden sus escritos en un naufragio.
En fin, este es el intento de dejarle apagar al blog. -Aprovechando la oportunidad para mostrarle al mundo (micromundo), lo maravillosos que son mis TUK.
Esta sección en el blog se llama, "flops", o intentos fallidos de parecer lo suficientemente "apta" para salir en una Rookie Mag: aprobación de Tavi Gevinson (a man can only dream). No me acuerdo cuál era el tema central de esa edición de la revista, pero no pude tener ni un pequeño sip de lo que ser seleccionada se sentía. *drama kicks in* A juzgar por mi tono de voz en el texto, debió haber sido un tema sobre el amor propio: tema predominante, por no decir berreado dentro de las revistas independientes y/o post-modernas. Pero bueno, ¿quién necesita de la aprobación de Rookie? "¡Mom, I made it into The Fashion Bullet!"
Fue un lunes de lluvia poco anticipada, y cuando Quito ya no parecía una ciudad fantasma que conocí en persona a Nicolás Durán. Es de esos alguiens que es imposible que pasen desapercibidos en las calles; ese día en particular: sassy walk, chelsea boots, cigs... En fin, Nico es además, de esos alguiens que lo que más tienen es historias para contar. Primero lo primero. Por obra y gracia del sr. instagram nos logramos contactar ya que es caleño, vive en Bogotá y es un nomad at heart (por eso llego a la ciudad). Estudió diseño y patronaje de modas, y, comunicación y mercadeo de moda. Entre conversaciones acerca de peculiaridades, random chants de Lana del Rey y qué no, me dijo que para armar un outfit él no se hace problema, o sea, ese lunes llevaba una prenda que sólo él could pull it off (era -posiblemente- un pie de cama elaborado en Otavalo) pero la adaptó para que fuera una falda. La moda es un lenguaje, no es vestir lo que está en vitrinas. " n160292 " es la marca de ropa masculina que Nico está proximo a lanzar y mantiene a la expectativa a todos los que lo seguimos en ig. Estuvo entre mis peticiones el tan tradicional "tienes que volver", porque era evidente que faltaron días para que conozca más de la ciudad y otras maravillas del país. La verdadera pregunta es: is the world ready for n160292? (la respuesta es sí, porque además es shipping worldwide). Una de las observaciones que hizo Nico es que en el país debemos abrirnos y finalmente, desarraigarnos del curuchupismo que nos cega tanto. Amén.

Diré que dejé de lado la saga de libros de "the fifth wave" porque no me enganché lo suficiente, pero la realidad es otra. Sucumbí ante la tentación de refreshear la página de mis suscripciones en youtube para encontrarme con lo que llamo "eye candy" -no la clase de weheartit-. Si algo productivo puedo rescatar de este verano, es que hice listas y listas y listas. Le di uso a mi más que souvenir de Máncora, una libreta pequeña y ESENCIAL de mi vida, donde anoto lo que debo hacer cada semana. No por día, porque quién sabe qué y qué feo planear todo. Listas de países, ciudades de esos países y lugares en las ciudades de esos países. Lista de compras (anuales porque cheap). Listas de ingredientes que debo comprar para hacer (diy) una crema de noche. Listas de aesthetic/life-inspiration y para segmentar, por parte de canales en youtube.
I'll say that I stopped reading "the fifth wave" saga because I didn't get too much into the story, but that's not a projection of the truth. I just kept on refreshing the subscription page on youtube to find what I like to call "eye candy" - not the kind you find on weheartit, though-. If I had to name something productive I did over the summer was creating lists. I got to use my ohsoemotional souvenir I bought in Mancora last holidays, a little agenda (?) and definitely a life essential, where I like to write what I need to do over the week. Not by days, because who knows what and I dont wanna be that kinda person ukno. Lists of countries, cities in those countries, places to visit in the cities of those countries. Shopping lists (annual bc cheap). Lists of ingredients I need to DIY a nightcream. Lists of aesthetic/life-inspiration, and to be clear, youtube channels.
There's no other man alive to use the rose quartz and serenity like WJP does. There's not a more unique vlogger. But where's youtube handing him a silver plate of "most visually pleasant videomaker" (?)

Sé que es posible viajar de A a B (europa) con sólo $8 gracias a D&Jo. It's wednesay, fifth day since Views by Drake was released and over a week since Beyoncé gave birth to Lemonade. We have been #blessed. After months of being absent, TFB makes its comeback with this outfit of an unknown day of april, which apparently was perfect for wearing creepers (isnt everyday?). ok, leaving aside the narration in 3rd person, I decided to wear a sleveless white top, which was previously rescued from a box; some mom jeans and a vintage belt which could easily be part of the cover of an Alvvays album.

objetivo de descubrir, aprender y crearse a uno mismo.
Después de haber sobrevivido a los últimos días (días que
parecieron uno solo, uno eterno, uno del infierno) y toda la ansiedad/dolor
físico/inseguridades/malos hábitos que el semestre pasado conllevaba, tomé la
astuta decisión de apoyarme en los hombros del internet y dejar que todo eso
sane. Este par de semanas que pasaron me dediqué a descubrir obsesionarme
con revistas en línea, las que han sido creadas por jóvenes (para jóvenes); y
blogs (y canales de youtube, pero no los de tipo beautyguru): los que celebran
el empoderamiento de las mujeres, los que se dedican a la cultura pop, los que
muestran estilo y no tendencias. Porque amar es compartir, y en ocasiones,
tiempo no es lo único que se necesita para curar, comparto esta lista de
maravillas que gracias al aburrimiento y al retrogrado de Mercurio en acuario
he logrado encontrar.

holidays were created to discover, learn and create oneself.
After the so-called college finals hectic days and all the
anxiety/physical pain/ insecurities/bad habits that come with them, I took the
smart decision of relying on the internet to let all of those things heal (don’t
we all?). These past couple of weeks I have discovered obsessed over online magazines, the ones that
are created by teens (for teens); and blogs (youtube channels, but not the
beautyguru type): the ones that foster women empowerment, the ones dedicated to
pop culture, the ones that show style and not trends. Because sharing is caring
,and sometimes, time isn’t the only thing you need for healing, here’s a list
of wonderful sources for general inspiration.

True style is self-acceptance.
No recuero exactamente cómo o cuándo encontré este
canal. Tal vez fue un día en el que la luna estaba alineada con cáncer, who
knows. StyleLikeU es una campaña-like canal que celebra el estilo autentico. Es
un proyecto madre-hija que recluta a personas genuinas, pure-soul y con estilo,
cuyas historias merecen ser contadas. Uno de mis videos favoritos es la
entrevista que le hciieron a Soko. Miren ustedes mismos. Hay tanta belleza
reflejada en ver cómo la gente expresa su “rawness” a través de su estilo.
I don’t exactly recall how or when I stumbled upon
this channel. It was probably a day in
which the moon was facing cancer. StyleLikeU is a campaign-like channel that
celebrates authentic style. It’s a mother-daughter project that recruits
genuine, pure-soul, stylish people that have stories to tell. One of my favourite
videos is the interview they made to Soko. See for yourself. There is such
beauty in watching other people express their “rawness” through style.

Son las 0:14 y los lunes no son tan malos. Con la canción más reciente de Lana del Rey, "Terrence Loves You" - la cual me atrevo a decir que es una de mis favoritas ahora- viene un sentimiento nostálgico medio-Morrisey que solo puede significar que el verano ya casi se acaba. Estos últimos tres meses parecían como una eternidad pero al menos logré obtener suficiente material fotográfico en mi 35mm kodak para llenar una "inspiration board". (He pasado suficientes horas en pinterest como para confiar que cualquier DIY me saldrá increíble). En fin, tres piezas de este outfit son vintage, los mom jeans son una de las mejores adquisiciones recientes y bueno...superstars.
It's 0:14 and Mondays aren't so bad. With the recently released song by Lana del Rey, "Terrence Loves You"- which I dare to say that is one of my absolute favorites by the artist- comes a very mellow (almost Morrisey-like) feeling that could only mean that summer is over. These past three months of summer migh have seemed like an eternity but at least I got enough footage on my 35mm kodak to cover up my soon-to-be inspiration board. (I've spent way too many hours on pinterest, enough to actually make myself believe that I'm capable of doing any DIY project).
Three pieces of this outfit are vintage, the mom jeans are probably one of the best purchases I've made recently, and...superstars because why not.

de clima de estos últimos días veraniegos en Quito han sido casi proporcionales
a los mood swings de un cáncer y un géminis combinados. Un día
de estos opté por usar una blusa "cut out" de Dear One, con
unos high waisted negros, mis adidas superstars y un bolso negro CK ya que
añade un poco de good-drama al outfit.
The changes of the weather this past few summer days in Quito have been
pretty much equivalent to the mood swings of a cancer/gemini combination. One
of these days, I decided to wear a "cut out" blouse from DearOne along
with some high waisted jeans, adidas superstars and a Calvin Klein bag (the
perfect addition of good-kinda-drama to the outfit).
Últimamente, mi dashboard en tumblr es básicamente jugos detox, cejas,
el look de maquillaje más natural posible y paredes blancas. Todos los caminos
llevan al minimalismo, y en efecto, después de tanto tiempo de ausencia en el
blog, decidí tomar ese camino. Era uno de esos días donde el clima no se decidía, sin embargo, opté por usar un chunky sweater de color mostaza, unos high waisted jeans negros, mis docs, y una chaqueta negra vintage.
My tumblr's dashboard is basically
dominated by pictures of detox juices, "no-makeup" makeup looks, full
brows and white walls. Today, it seems like all the roads lead to
minimalism and after a long period of time without posting a
single thing, I decided I would take that path too. It was one of those days where the weather would not make up its mind, however, i decided to wear a mustard chunky sweater, black high waisted jeans, my docs and a black vintage jacket.
It wasn't until a few
days ago that I realised that 2k14 is almost over, and as cliché as it sounds,
time really flies by...with College finals, Christmas and New Years coming up,
the excitement is just too much. As I write this, I'm getting that melancholic
yet comforting feeling of December, which totally reminds me of the classic
"Blue" by Bill Mack. However, I found time this week to shoot a
little something.
The blouse I'm wearing is byDearOne(lovely local shop). A blouse that goes by the name of Pure White Print
- how pretty the name is though - in shades of violet, hence the name of my
look. I'm trying to find the coolest words to describe the awesomeness of this
blouse...the feel to it, the print, the lightness of it, the colors...it's safe
to say that it was kind of love at first sight.
I paired
this with some black high waisted jeans, my favourite black ankle boots and
some lovely quasi-rounded shades.

Los kimonos dan especial apertura para los entusiastas del boho chic, uno
de mis all-time favorites. El look de la bloggeraNora Aradies perfecto para describir un outfit
worthy de un festival de música, el fedora es un accesorio que, en mi opinión,
es casi un must para usar con los kimonos.
Muchas le temen a tanta soltura
en una prenda, como si les fuese a añadir una talla de más…bueno, un cinturón
sin muchas extravagancias ¿por qué no? Es ahí cuando se agrega más accesorios
como un bolso de cuero haciendo de este outfit uno quasi-italian vogue.

Cuando pienso en kimonos pienso en simplicity, y es que la misma noción del “overthinking”
se aplica el rato de escoger un outfit con qué usar un kimono. Si el print de
esta prenda es floral, por ejemplo, no es de lo más recomendable usar una blusa
con otro print o encaje muy excesivo. Less (really) is more.Marta

transformar un outfit.
El objetivo de un kimono es
moldear un outfit. Es decir que lo que se use por debajo, ya sea una

When I think about kimonos, the whole concept of simplicity comes to my mind; the same notion of "overthinking" washes me (most of the times) when it comes to picking an outfit to pair with a kimono. If the print on this garment is floral, for example, is not the most advisable to use another print blouse with lace or a too excessive pattern. Less (really) is more. The aim of the kimono is to mold an outfit. That is why the piece of clothing underneath the kimono is important! They do not have to be hidden. Generation Y. Born between the birth of AIDS and 9/11, give or take. They call us the Global Generation". One moment of silence. I created this outfit by putting this lovely top from DearOne, some high waisted pants from Bershka and black creepers. I'm in some deep love with this top since it has this lovely ethnical print but at the same time is very lightweight making it perfect for summer (even though its ending already).
